Information We Collect
Our goal is to provide you with an Internet experience that delivers the Services as intended and the information and resources related thereto. To achieve this goal, part of the operation of the Services includes gathering certain types of information about our users.
We collect both “personal information” and “aggregated information.” The term “personal information” refers to data that can be used to identify you and/or the company on whose behalf you are accessing and using the Services, including your first and last name, e-mail address, phone number, physical address, city, state, zip code and/or certain other personal information you may choose to input into the Services. “Aggregated information” refers to general information regarding visitors and users of the Services that relates to use of the Services, for example, traffic patterns, number of visits to certain pages, visits from other websites or to third-party websites linked to the Site, use of particular services and interest in services, information or features of the Services or other parties made available through or found at the Services.
As you complete your personal profile, create and build your bucketnotes and/or bucketcapsules and identify your bucketpals, you will also be providing us with additional information about yourself and your bucketpals. Your bucketpals will not be able to access to the information contained in your bucketnotes and/or bucketcapsules.
Please do not enter information into the Site that is highly personal and confidential in nature (e.g. social security numbers, passwords, bank account information, etc.). If you must include this information, please do so only to the extent as necessary to provide your bucketpals and message recipients with the information required to carry out your requests.
How We Use Your Information
We are committed to providing you with information about the collection and use of personal information furnished by you or collected from you while using the Services. The primary purpose for collecting your personal information is to allow us to provide you with the ability to utilize the Services, including but not limited to creating a bucketnote profile, creating a bucketcapsule, identifying message recipients and bucketpals who will only have access to the information provided by you necessary for the correct delivery of your bucketcapsules and /or bucketnotes
We may analyze aggregated information we process for the above-mentioned purpose to better understand our customer needs, improve our services and the way we operate by analyzing trends and customer behavior cumulatively. We may also use aggregate information to analyze Site traffic, diagnose server or other technical problems, administer the Site and provide the Services, and to display content according to your preferences. Aggregate information may be shared with business partners, affiliates, and/or advertisers on an aggregated and anonymous basis.
The contents of your bucketnotes and bucketcapsule and your messages are private only to you and your recipients (at time of delivery). Our employees are not authorized to view or otherwise access the private content that you upload to the Site. Access can only be authorized by you, a court order or subpoena (and any such information made so available shall be made in an encrypted form).
If the need arises, we may, with or without third party assistance, use your personal information to verify your identity and process your orders and payments through merchant account services and to analyze our customer demographics to better serve you. We may use your personal information to follow up with you on transactions initiated on the Site, respond to inquiries made through the Site, inform you of changes to the Services, and send you additional information about us and our products. Unless specifically authorized by you, we do not provide personal information to third parties, except as necessary to provide you with the Services.
Permission for Use
Protecting Your Information
- We may monitor and, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required, disclose information to protect our security, property, assets and/or rights from unauthorized use, or misuse, of the Services or anything found at the Site.
- When companies or service providers that perform business activities on our behalf require such information in order to conduct the tasks defined in their agreements with us (e.g., credit card processing, customer support services, market research administration or database management services).
- We may disclose information when required by law; however, only to the extent necessary and in a manner that seeks to maintain the privacy of the individual.
If information is shared as mentioned above, we seek to limit the scope of information that is furnished to the amount necessary for the performance of the specific purpose.
To enable features at the Site, we may assign one or more “cookies” to your Internet browser. Cookies, among other things, speed navigation through our Site (i.e., “session cookies”), keep track of information so that you do not have to re-enter it each time you visit our Site (i.e., “persistent cookies”), and may provide you with customized content. A cookie is an Internet mechanism composed of a small text file containing a unique identification number that permits a web server to send small pieces of information or text by means of your browser and place them on your computer’s hard drive for storage. This text lets the web server know if you have previously visited the web page. Unlike persistent cookies, session cookies are deleted from your computer when you log off from the Site and then close your browser.
Pursuant to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the Services are not directed or intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from individuals under 13 years of age and no one under age 13 may provide any personal information to, on or through the Services. If we later obtain actual knowledge that a user is under 13 years of age, we will take steps to remove that user’s personal information from our systems. If you are the parent or guardian of a child whom you believe has disclosed personal information to us, please contact us at email@example.com so that we may delete and remove such child’s information from our systems.
Links Provided to Third Party Websites
We may provide links to third party websites, however, those websites may not follow the same privacy policies as we do and we are not responsible for the collection, use, maintenance, sharing or disclosure of information data (including personal information) by such third parties. We urge you to contact the relevant parties controlling these websites or accessing their on-line privacy policies for the relevant information about their data collection practices before submitting any personal information or sensitive data.
Retention of Your Information
Your personal information will be kept in a form which enables us to identify you for as long as it is necessary for the purposes of providing the Services. Your personal information may be retained in certain files for a period of time as required by applicable law and following our data retention policies in order to comply with such financial or legal requirements, to properly resolve disputes or to troubleshoot problems. In addition, some types of information may be stored indefinitely due to technical constraints, and will be blocked from further processing for purposes which are not mandatory by law.
Update Personal Information.
You may review and update your contact information and other personal information through your bucketnote profile at any time. If at any time you want to remove your personal information from the Site, you may do so by deleting some or all information that has been entered by you. We will not retain any data or information entered by you on our Site once it has been deleted by you.
Changes to this Policy
California Privacy Rights
Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents have the right to request in writing from businesses with whom they have an established business relationship: (i) a list of the categories of personal information, such as name, address, e-mail address, and the type of services provided to that customer, that a business has disclosed to third parties (including affiliates that are separate legal entities) during the immediately preceding calendar year for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes, and (ii) the names and addresses of all such third parties.
